How to Cope With the Loss of a Pet and Friend

Pets. They comfort us and keep us grounded even when the going gets tough. They remind us that life goes on even when we don’t want to keep going, on days when Netflix and the couch are easier options. Pets teach us and show us kindness, patience, loyalty, trust, persistence, and love – all character traits that lead to more worthy and fulfilled lives.

Pets also leave us with questions about being in heaven with our pets and the most noble way to care for them in the end.

Remember to love yourself and acknowledge the loss of your furry friend while remembering to keep moving forward. Grief is a season and not meant to stay. It is not a sign of disloyalty to move on. The love in your heart for your friend (furry or not) will stay. They were special and a meaningful part of your life. And just like most parts of life, change happens whether we want it or not. Allow yourself to let go when the time is right and remember that letting go doesn’t make the memories less meaninful. Letting go simply means you open yourself to more blessings and more love and more experiences for a brighter tomorrow. Your pet would want that for you.
