Music for Inspiration
This video of Robert McMichael singing Amazing Grace at Mount Bethel UMC inspires hope, which many of us especially during stressful times need. The incredible pianist is Chuck Newman. If two people were ever doing what God intended them to do, it would be Robert McMichael and Chuck Newman.
Words seem inadequate for the pain of losing people we once held closely in our arms and in our hearts. We were never guaranteed a life without loss. It’s a package deal. Life includes loss. Some losses are welcomed as children lose a tooth, but many are inexpressibly painful.
Loss. A realm of emotions trail after financial loss, loss of physical ability, lost dreams, and in the midst of the pandemic, loss of normalcy. The number of losses is endless and as a part of life, we must overcome even when the chasm in our hearts threatens to destroy the beauty we once cherished.
Emotions can stalk the minutes in our days, exposing the frailty of ourselves and threatening our desire to move forward. Nevertheless, we can’t allow emotional tidal waves to pull us under and hold our futures hostage. For life is not only full loss and uncertainty, life is equally full of choice and we are not alone.
Robert McMichael begins singing (about 38 seconds into the video) with inner solitude. As he continues singing, he portrays the change of emotions which are inherent in life to an outward display of hope. Praise is a powerful thing. Perhaps more powerful than our human minds can comprehend.
Enjoy!
